Father McGivney wrote one objective was to ".... aid each other in time of sickness; to provide for decent burial; and to render pecuniary assistance to the families of deceased members." Thus a primary feature of the Knights became the insurance Program. Over the years the Order's insurance program has joined the elite ranks of the most highly rated insurance companies in North America. Standard and Poor's rates the Knights insurance program as AAA (Extremely Strong) and from A.M. Best we have achieved A++ (Superior). The Order is also a member of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA). IMSA membership is reserved only for those insurers that conduct their business by the highest ethical standards. Today the Order's 140 general agents and more than 1,100 field agents provide Knights and their families with more than $43 billion of total insurance. Last year the program provided $124 million in death benefits paid and $275 million in dividends received. The insurance program offers members many choices, including Long Term Care insurance. A member may also purchase coverage for his spouse or his children. |
